Don’t label me a Christian.

Hello there!

So I saw this video clip where Justin Bieber is being interviewed and was asked about the time he lived with a pastor. He said that he was going through a weird phase at that stage, because he didn’t want to be a Christian anymore. He was raised in a Christian home, but was taught that you get into Heaven by good deeds. Obviously we know that, that is not the way it works. The word teaches in  Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.

Now… does that mean that I can still just continue with my sinful ways and just believe that Jesus is Lord and go to Heaven?

NO!!!!!!!

What it means is that yes, when you acknowledge Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you will be saved. BUT! And I got allot of respect for Justin with this statement. He said that if you start having a relationship with God you do not want to do the wrong stuff anymore, and RIGHT THERE he clicked something that many Christians nowadays have yet to understand. Being called a Christian should be an honour, because people acknowledge your personal relationship with God. The sad thing today is that every other “Christian” is simply living their life in the way that THEY think is best, filled with motivational speeches of “preachers” promoting health and wealth once you “accept” Jesus into your life…..

That breaks my heart.

Jesus came to die for us so that we could have a personal relationship with Him and God and the Holy Spirit. John 14:6: Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father except through Me. Jesus is the ONLY way that we can have a personal relationship with the one TRUE AND LIVING God.

Another thing that I have noticed is that there are people using scripture to accommodate their own twisted beliefs. For example they post a scripture and then one has to “share, comment Amen, or click like” and God will bless you. SERIOUSLY!!!! Do you really think God has Facebook? “Oh look, Sonéll just liked a picture of Me. Blessing on its way Sonéll!” Yeah right!! Lol! With all due respect, I am not judging you for your post, but God does not bless based on good  deeds or social media posts. God looks at a persons’ heart, listens to prayers and sees your faith and faithfulness. God is ever faithful and WILL bless you, you don’t have to share a scripture for it.

So why don’t I want to be labelled as a “Christian”? Because the modern “Christian” is not preaching Christ. I want to be known as a follower of Jesus Christ, led by the Holy Spirit and having a strong personal relationship with God. I want to be His mirror, reflecting His love, mercy and grace.

I love sitting in our church on Sundays hearing a sermon straight out of God’s word. I love the fact that God speaks directly to our leaders. I love to see them grow and succeed in their relationship with God. They are such an inspiration. I love them all so much.

I have sat in churches in the past where the “pastor” didn’t even quote one word from God’s Word. How do you teach people about God when you are not willing to quote Him.

Next time when you walk past someone in the street, smile at them and let them see the love that Jesus has for them. Do not be conformed to this world, but be renewed in your mind. Most of all, be renewed in your heart. Love people as Christ loves them. Forgive people as God forgives. Be led by the Spirit of God and not your emotions.

Go and BE that mirror reflecting God.
