2 Thessalonians 2:15-17 (Amplified Bible)

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold [tightly] to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting comfort and encouragement and the good [well-founded] hope [of salvation] by Hisgrace, comfort and encourage and strengthen your hearts [keeping them steadfast and on course] in every good work and word.

This scripture teaches us to stand firm and hold on to all that we have been taught according to God’s Word.

The church at the time that this scripture was written was just a couple of years old after the resurrection of Jesus. The church was undergoing some extreme persecution.

Paul wrote this letter to the church of Thessalonians to encourage them to stand firm. To not give in to the worldly ways or to slip away from following Christ, no matter how bad it gets.?

Currently in our modern life we as a body of Christ, the church, is also undergoing persecution of our values and faith and regularly we see believers slip away. Some people in various places of the world are experiencing physical torture and facing death, because they declare that Jesus is Lord.

It might not be as physical in your part of the world where you live, but I am sure that you are also feeling as if there is an attack on your faith through what you may or may not say.

Today I want to encourage you to stand firm. Our God and Christ who is our Hope will strengthen you and keep you safe. May the Holy Spirit who burns inside of you fan the flame of passion for God and His people within your hearts so that you will stand firm and hold on to all that is true, honorable and worthy.
