Hebrews 10:23-25 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word]; and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.
We live in a time where going to church is as easy as staying in bed, switching to YouTube or a church’s website or Facebook and “going to church” without physically going.
The problem with this is that, you will hear the Word of God being taught, but you might not respond to it as you would have if you were AT church with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
I grew up going to church every Sunday morning and evening. Even now as I am an adult I can not imagine NOT going. That would be a nightmare to me. The church community I am part of is my family. My fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. By meeting on a Sunday we can encourage one another. We can pray for each other. The presence of God is extra sweet when we share it with others.
The church building isn’t the only place you can get together. This scripture for me also speaks of meetings such as Bible study groups. Home cell groups. A coffee with a friend talking about God’s Word.
We ARE the church and that is why it is so important for us to stay in the habit of meeting with our family in Christ. So that we may share His Word, encourage one another and pray together in the presence of God. Where two or three are gathered there He is.
Be encouraged today. Visit your church family on Sunday. Visit your Pastor. Pray for your Pastor. He / she will take a bullet for you. Return the favor.
