It’s been a rough day or two. I haven’t been in the best mood and I am so tired I’m struggling to function properly during the day. The Word says in Matthew 11:28 Come to me all who labour and are heavy burdened and I will give you rest.
When we are tired and overworked we can know that we can go to Him to find rest. He will re-energise, restore and empower us. When we try to take everything upon ourselves we get tired and worn out and that is why God says in just the following verse in Matthew 11:29-30 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest for your soul. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
The word also speaks of us casting all our burdens on Him. That means ALL our burdens, all our thoughts all our worries and all our cares. We don’t have to carry all these things with us. He took it all upon Him the day He died on the Cross for us AND He overcame it the day he rose from the dead overcoming death!! How awesome is it that we can know we can find our rest in him?! As a mother and a wife it’s so easy to take the cares and worries of your husband and your children upon yourself, but we need to take those things and leave it at the feet of Jesus. He will carry it for us.
Concerning my bad mood… It’s nOt acceptable. I actually had to make a conscious decision to change that. When I am so exhausted I tend to take on even more emotional stress and burn myself out leading to a huge battle in my mind! I know the Word of God, I know the promises He has made, I just need to constantly remind myself of that. I am sure other moms and wives can relate to this.
And to top it all off, how do we compete with the woman in Prov. 31??? I am sure every newlywed wife has had this thought. We thrive so much to come just a teeny bit close to the woman in Prov. 31, but reality is… No one can be like her. YOU CAN BE BETTER!! I want to go through Prov. 31 with you for the next week or more. This woman was so great because she realised that she has the Spirit of the Lord within her to energise and empower her. As the word says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Keep on hoping, keep on believing and keep on being the woman and mother God called you to be.
